, Clark Nuber PS, and CFO Selections team up to sponsor Seattle Angel Fund’s Speaker Series, “How Venture Capitalists Invest & Their Predictions for 2018.” Venture investors in Seattle will discuss their approach to identifying, prioritizing and investing in early-stage companies. Angel investors need to understand the drivers for venture to make better investments and properly grow/prepare companies for VC finance. Our guest speakers will also give us their insights for 2018 – what’s going to be hot; macro economics; regional climate; etc. Should be a lively and informative discussion. Meet the Panelists:

Bill Bryant is a partner at DFJ. Bill has had early and instrumental involvement in more than 25 leading software, Internet, mobile, and digital media companies, as a founder, senior executive, investor, and board member. He has had founding roles with Visio (now part of Microsoft), Netbot (acquired by Excite), Qpass (acquired by Amdocs), Medio (Nokia), Mixxer, and Airworks. In these founding capacities, Bill drove definition of the core product and market strategy; raised >$150M in venture capital; recruited senior management teams; and built customer, partner and channel relationships in launching software products, Internet, and mobile services. Bill represents DFJ on the boards of Chef, Ping Identity, Yellowbrick, Reflect.io, Remitly and Bright Computing. In addition to his DFJ investments, he is an active angel investor with investments in Winshuttle, LiquidPlanner, Bonanza, and Socrata.

Geoff Entress is a co-founder and Managing Director of Pioneer Square Labs, a Seattle-based studio that creates and launches technology startups. Geoff is also an active angel investor in the Pacific Northwest, focusing broadly on investments in information technologies. A former venture partner with both Madrona Venture Group and Voyager Capital, Geoff is a current investor in over eighty private companies in the region and is a current board member of several of those companies, including JetClosing, Hiya, Meritage Soups, Bonanza, Foodee and LiquidPlanner. Geoff is also a long-time member of the Executive and Screening committees of the Alliance of Angels, the largest angel investor organization in the Pacific Northwest. He is also a former securities lawyer and financial analyst.

Maria Karaivanova works as a principal at Madrona. As part of the investment team, Maria is focused on sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities, working with portfolio companies to explore and evaluate business strategies and developing investment themes for the firm. She is particularly interested in founders doing new things in the enterprise software, cloud security and infrastructure arena. Maria has nearly a decade of deep technology experience, garnered through roles at some of the world’s leading technology companies, including Cloudflare, Intel and Boeing. Prior to Madrona, Maria worked as head of business development and an executive team member at Cloudflare, a San Francisco – based web performance and security company, where she helped build the company from 25 employees to unicorn status.
