Karr Tuttle Campbell mourns the passing of Joseph Delaney Holmes, Jr.

Retired Karr Tuttle Campbell partner Joseph “Joe” Holmes passed at the end of December 2013.  Joe joined Karr Tuttle Campbell in 1962 and, was for many years the firm’s best tax resource.

Joe was a Seattle native, attending Seattle Prep High School where he made a name for himself as both a football and basketball star. After high school he attended the University of Washington where he obtained his undergraduate and law degrees.

Joe began his career in law as an attorney for the Internal Revenue Service in San Francisco, after serving in the United States Air Force. He joined Karr Tuttle Campbell upon his return to Seattle, practicing tax and real estate law for the firm.

Joe left Karr Tuttle Campbell in 1997 after serving as a partner for over a decade.  He went on to serve as in-house counsel for a real estate development firm.  In retirement, he spent much of his time travelling and enjoying outdoor activities with his wife, Karen King. Joe was a fan of reading, sports, art and investing.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 9 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Parish in Seattle.
