Karr Tuttle Campbell Hosts Employment Seminar

On March 4, 2007, the Karr Tuttle Campbell Employment Relations Department will be holding an all-day seminar for its clients.  We will provide participants with information about some important recent developments in employment law, as well as practical advice on how to address new and recurring employment issues.

The seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Leonesa Ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Hotel at 721 Pine Street, Seattle, Washington, 98101.  Lunch and refreshments will be provided.  Upon conclusion of the seminar, we will also be hosting a short cocktail reception.  In keeping with our past practice, there is no charge to our clients for this event.

Among other things, we will be addressing the following topics: (1) new INS rules for social security "no-match letters"; (2) changes in the law regarding the rights of employees who are absent from work due to disabilities, military service, and pregnancy; (3) the continuing growth of litigation over the failure to pay employees properly under Federal and State minimum wage and overtime laws; (4) how Section 409A of the Internal Revenue Code could affect employment relationships; (5) further judicial restrictions on the use of non-compete and arbitration agreements; (6) the extension of protection to domestic partners and to individuals based upon their sexual orientation/identity; (7) pre-employment inquiries, background checks, and references; (8) the IRS's new test for determining when workers are independent contractors; and (9) recent NLRB decisions of note.

If you would like to attend, please email Angie Michelle by February 27th.  Her email address is amichelle@karrtuttle.com.
